There are some exciting changes happening here at Hockey Heritage North. We are now partnering with the town of Kirkland Lake. The Board of Directors and Staff of Hockey Heritage North are very excited about the direction that we are now going in. With the aid of the Town of Kirkland Lake we should grow to see our full potential. You'll want to keep an eye on us in the coming years and watch how we grow.
(The following is an article that appeared in the Northern News on Nov 9,2007)
The Town of Kirkland Lake is moving to have a more direct say in the operation and promotion of Hockey Heritage North.
At Tuesday's council meeting a letter was handed out as a information item, listing how the town will be more involved in the day to day operations and promotion of Hockey Heritage North.
The letter states: "As of January 2008, HHN and the town will integrate their information technology, human resource and financial systems. This will reduce overhead costs and increase operational efficiencies, while freeing the HHN board to concentrate on developing the exhibition aspect of the facility."
The letter goes on to say: The town will also play a more active role in the day to day operations off HHN, sharing staff and coordinating marketing efforts between HHN and complimentary town facilities like te Museum of Northern history and the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
In talking about the town's new role at HHN, Mayor Bill Enouy said,"Nancy (Allick CAO) and Wilf (Hass Corporate Services) are working hard to come up with a new strategy through partnerships and synergies to make it more effective...to use things we have in place in the town to better serve the area and to better serve the facility itself. Don (Studholme Director of Corporate Services) is working on new marketing strategies and financing there of."
He continued "we are going to be taking a more active role hoping this wonderful building we have doesn't fall off the map."
The release points out that the town and HHN have had a close working relationship over the past year and together with other partners such as the Kirkland Lade District Chamber of Commerce have launched a number of initiative promoting Kirkland Lake's tourism potential. These include the Information Centre at HHN, the Discover KL Tourism Partnership and hosting regional events such as FONOM 2007.
The letter states the new working relationship will strengthen Kirkland Lake's ability to host special events such as sports tournaments, cultural and education events and conferences. As well it will raise Kirkland Lake's profile as a tourism destination leveraging partnership HHN formed with the James Bay Frontier Travel Association, Ontario North East Attractions initiative, the Timiskaming Abitibi Trail Association and the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The letter concludes: "Hockey Heritage North is an integral part of Kirkland Lake. The town is proud of what it has accomplished, and a strong supporter of what it can yet become. Our plans to integrate our operations will help ensure that HHN realizes its full potential."

Rentals
This is our theatre after we got to work transforming it for a wedding. With a room capacity for 100 people, this room can be used for weddings, seminars, banquets, etc...
In the Gold Hall, you will find replicas of the NHL individual awards and the Stanley Cup. Hockey Heritage North is the only facility beside the Hockey Hall of Fame and the NHL offices to have these replicas. Around the perimeter of the room are etched images of Northeastern Ontario NHL players.
The Fun Zone
The Fun Zone is definitley the right name for this area. We have 3 PS2 game stations set up so you can play NHL 2K7, a bubble hockey game, an air hockey game and we also have Top Shot (how fast can you hit the lights), Fast Shot( measure the speed of your shot), and Score a Goal (try to get the puck past the goalie).
One of the nice things about this area is that we do the set up and you bring in your own party supplies, food ar have it delivered right to our facility and we do the clean up. All you have to do is have fun!
This is a very classy and comfortable room for those small meetings that require a quiet and intimate atmosphere. We can seat 12 people comfortably.
Also available for rent in the Board Room is a flipchart/easel board, projector - screen, and internet access.
